This is a quick post but, I'm caffeinated, my room is a mess, my bag is still empty, and I still haven't showered. I always manage to take procrastination to a new level. Leaving in an hour and 15 minutes.
Here's the mess I'm dealing with right now:

So I'm still in New Jersey.
As I'm sure you all know Hurricane Irene decided to invade our coast this weekend, and all flights on my airline were cancelled for today.
The silver lining: a few extra days to pack, and a few extra days to say goodbye to friends and family.
But really, I'm anxious enough as it is. I'm trying to get out of here, not be stuck at home.
So no more late visas, or natural disasters, please!
But hey, lets all be glad there aren't sharks swimming in our streets: http://egotvonline.com/2011/08/25/why-you-shouldnt-swim-after-a-hurricane/

Pre-departure
Ok so- I have yet to actually go to Kenya, or even Africa that matter. But I thought I would start with blabbering some pre-departure ideas of how the next few weeks are going to work. Now I am no writer (as I'm sure you could tell, if you don't know that about me already), but I am a pretty damn good list maker. So here is a list of how I suspect my next two weeks will be, before I start my semester in Nairobi, Kenya.
List #1: Being too busy all of the time.
List #1: Being too busy all of the time.
- packing my apartment- good luck to me, right?
- getting the rest of my shots- ouch.
- packing for 4 months in two bags- easier said than done.
- saying goodbyes, both in MapSo and DC (tears will be shed)
- read- haha, right like i have time, maybe I'll make time this book Bitch: In Praise of Difficult Women has me captivated (jokes aside please)
- figure out my phone/internet/ technology situation abroad
- eat at 3 crucial places: Roots, Bagel Chateau, and of course, Panera.
That's just the start of what has to be done in the next 14 days.
Oh also, I should give a shout out to my oh so clever friends and their ideas for my blog's name, the winner will still get a prize, but i'm still keeping it open until I actually leave, then the blog name will be official. so far we have (see photo)
So keep brainstorming friends!
and don't forget to smile today.
